Why Your Solar Leads Don't Turn Into Site Visits (A Rajasthan Installer's Guide)

Solar installer worried about missed lead calls

Last month I sat with a solar installer in Sikar. Good guy, 12 staff, PM Surya Ghar registered vendor, ₹18,000 a month on Facebook ads. His phone had 140 leads in it. Site visits? Nine.

He asked me, "Sameer bhai, ads chal rahe hain, leads aa rahe hain, phir bhi kaam kyun nahi ho raha?"

If you run a rooftop solar business in Rajasthan, there's a good chance you're stuck in the same spot. So let's talk about it plainly.

Problem 1: You reply too late

A homeowner in Jhunjhunu fills your form at 9 pm. You call him at 11 am next day. By then two other installers have already called him, and one has already fixed a visit for Sunday.

Solar leads go cold fast. The first 5 minutes matter more than the next 5 days. If you can't call that quickly, at least send an automatic WhatsApp message with your name, a photo of a recent installation, and a simple question: "Aapka monthly bijli bill kitna aata hai?"

Problem 2: Your ad attracts the wrong people

Ads that say "FREE solar" or "₹0 bill forever" bring a lot of clicks. They also bring people who think the government will install panels for free. These people waste your team's whole day.

Better ads talk about the real deal: the PM Surya Ghar subsidy (up to ₹78,000 for 3 kW and above), the rough cost after subsidy, and who it is for — people with their own pakka roof and a bill above ₹2,000. Fewer leads, but far more of them become visits.

Problem 3: No trust before the call

Before a family lets someone climb on their roof, they want to know you're real. They will Google your name. They will check if you have a proper website, real photos, local reviews.

If all they find is a Facebook page with three posts, they won't pick up your call. A simple, fast website with your office address, installs done in their area, and short customer videos changes this completely. That's exactly what we build — you can see an example on our homepage.

Problem 4: Nobody follows up after the first call

Most solar buyers take 2–4 weeks to decide. They talk to family, check the bank loan, wait for salary. If you call once and stop, you lose them to whoever calls the third time.

A simple follow-up plan works well:

What this looks like in Shekhawati

Jhunjhunu, Sikar and Churu are different from Jaipur. People trust local faces. A video of your own team on a roof in Nawalgarh or Fatehpur works better than any stock photo. Hindi and Marwari-flavoured messages get more replies than English ones. And summer bills (May–July) are your best time to push ads — that's when the pain is real.

Not in Rajasthan?

The same fixes work in Maharashtra, Gujarat, MP, UP and Haryana. The subsidy is the same across India under PM Surya Ghar; only the language and local proof change.
